About Dr. Goldfarb

Roberta received her doctorate in psychology from Saybrook Institute in 1990.  She has been in private practice in Santa Rosa since 1982, specializing in depth psychotherapy. She has supervised interns for most of her career and served as Clinical Director for Chrysalis Counseling Center, offering advanced training for interns. She coordinated the training program and co-designed a comprehensive tool to aid in intern self-assessment, evaluation and training.

She serves on the clinical committee of the Institute for Spirituality and Psychology at Spirit Rock Meditation Center and was co-founder of the organization that became Pacific Zen Institute where she now teaches on the interface between psychology and spirituality.

She has practiced Buddhist meditation for three decades and this study informs her clinical work.

She sees psychotherapy as creative work—art not plumbing—and looks for the imaginative spark in everyone who consults with her.

Roberta’s interests are myriad. Whether camping with her T@B on the California Coast, traveling in Europe (especially Paris), solitary meditation retreats at the ocean, the pleasure of lively conversation and the company of friends, Roberta embraces life fully. She has a lively and unfettered imagination and is perhaps best know for her infectious laugh.
